Community Events

We welcome families to a variety of exciting events. See below for details on what is coming up.

Community/Family Events

Every year, The Riviera Ridge School families work together to put on many important events that bring the community together. While some of these gatherings are fundraisers that raise vital funds for special school projects, faculty support and development, and school operations, all these activities provide a way to make new friends and reconnect with old ones.  Volunteer opportunities are vast and range from the annual golf tournament, auction, and Party Book gatherings, to numerous Riviera Ridge Family Association activities. The Rivera Ridge School provides myriad opportunities for involvement. These events include:

Student and Family Events

  • Back-to-School Picnic (Traditionally at Manning Park)
  • Lower School Grade Level Parties
  • Middle School Halloween Party & Holiday Brunch
  • Various Family/Child Events
  • Genius Night
  • Teacher Appreciation Week (1st week of May)
  • 8th Grade Graduation Committee/7th Grade Co-Chairs
  • End-of-Year Beach Bash

All Community and Alumni Invitation Events

  • Community Party Books (Benefit Gala Support)
  • Annual Gala - Auction

Annual Benefit Gala - Friday, April 26th

Every spring, the school hosts an evening fundraising event. The Gala raises money for an annual school priority. Donors may contribute in different ways, including purchasing sponsorships or tickets to the event, participating in the silent and live auctions, and raising paddles in support of our funding priorities. Event sponsors are the backbone of our gala. The event’s financial success over the last 50 years is a result of the generosity of Riviera Ridge parents and the greater Santa Barbara business community.

We are facing a myriad of societal, economic, and environmental challenges. By facilitating a culture of creativity, schools have the potential to create innovators that become leaders. We can no longer think of school as an industrialized machine that trains students only to regurgitate academic information (Robinson, 2006).

Instead, schools must be a location where genius is cultivated and where students apply academic knowledge to solve problems.

In celebration of this idea, each year we hold a Genius Night in both the Lower and Middle Schools. Families are invited to spend an evening learning about the enriching life of their child at RRS through teacher presentations, workshops, and interactive experiences. Both parents and children dive into activities that showcase the type of hands-on deeper learning that students engage in every day.
